(Utapri) Ren and Darts

Reader x Jinguji Ren

Ren stands there casually throwing darts, probably bored by the fact he was alone. You note he was without his usual bevy of girls. He notices you and smiles.

“Care to join me,lady?” Ren inquires. You grin nonchalantly, taking off your (colour) bracelet and place your hand out waiting for darts rather than answering. He takes your hand and gently kisses it, slightly startling you. He looks up at you with a smirk, taking your hand and placing a dart in it. You hold the dart in your hand, getting into position while trying to recall your past skills. You threw the dart and it landed in an inner rim, pleased with yourself, you face him with a coy smile. One eyebrow was raised as Ren realizes he was not the only advanced player in the room.

“I usually tell ladies the key to darts is exceptional hand-eye coordination, but you seem to know that,” he comments, impressed.

“Why thank you,” you reply calmly. You believe he appreciates your talent in the game, but don't know how to use the information. Flirting was so difficult, and it slightly annoyed you that he had the upper hand.

“How about a game between two pros?” Ren asks with a smile that suggests he has more up his sleeve.

“A friendly game or is there something on the line?” you question, believing there was more. Wasn't there always?

“Which would you prefer? You decide,” he offers gentlemanly. You look at the clock realizing it is already 6:45pm. Ren follows your gaze.

“It will be time to dine soon. Does this mean you wish to cancel the game?” Ren asks, looking slightly disappointed.

“No, of course not. I wouldn't pass up a chance to play with another pro. However, this has given me an idea. The loser will pay for the winner's dinner. What do you think?” you inquire.

“Perfect. Not only will I have a match with a pretty talented young lady, but we will also eat together,” he agrees. You blush slightly at being called pretty, a rare compliment. You also become conscious about the fact that Ren had read your body language and understood you perfectly, causing your blush to darken.

“I have won either way,” he declares. You tilt your head slightly and smirked.

“We will see about that. I'll go first,” you say. Ren and you throw darts, matching each other perfectly. You grab the next dart eagerly as this was an intense game. You throw the dart, but feel it release too soon. You cringe as the dart had landed on the very outer rim.

“An unexpected misstep, my lady. I am sorry, but I shall seize this chance to take the lead," he says with amusement written across his face. Ren throws the dart, hitting a perfect bulls-eye. You bite your lip, hoping to catch up somehow. You focus and let the dart fly, soon hitting bulls-eye as well, but you still need him to majorly mess up in order to have any chance at winning. You lean closer to him, anxious to see the results.

“My lady, are you distracting me with your presence so I will miss?” he asks. You realize you were practically touching and that only a little space existed between the two of you. You blush in embarrassment; you became so absorbed in the game and didn't notice. Now you could hear his breathing clearly, and feel his clothing so close to your bare arm as you was wearing a tank top.

“I'm s-sorry!” you stutter, abashed that he believes you'd been trying to cheat. Ren smirks.

“Don't worry you will have my absolute attention throughout dinner,” he says. Your blush deepens. He throws the dart and it landed on an inner rim. You sigh heavily.

“You win fair and square. I'll pay for tonight's dinner,” you say.

“I'll pay for dinner,” Ren says, still staring at the dartboard.

“You don't have to. I can, and it was predetermined the loser would pay when we started the game,” you reply, wanting to be a good sport.

“No I insist. Spending time with you today playing darts was a pleasure, and now I get to have dinner with you. This is my way of repaying you,” he states firmly.

“Okay. Where should we go then...Ren-san?" you question. You looked at the ground, shocked by his kindness and his interest in you. Ren cocks his head slightly in amusement while looking at you because of your odd combination of his first name and the honorific. Jinguji-san was too formal and Ren-kun didn't sound right.

“I know of a place, do you trust me, lady?” he replies with a wink. You were starting to see why all these girls liked him.

“Well… I heard you were a good chef so you probably know great restaurants. And...” You breathe in heavily. A game of darts was a piece of cake, but expressing your feelings to a flirtatious expert? Not so much.

“I…I feel that going anywhere with you would be fun.” You heard no response, so you cautiously look up. His face shows the emotion of surprise and you immediately feel stupid, silly, and childish. You look down at the ground abashed. Soon his face melts into a joyous state with a wide grin.

“I am happy you feel that way.” He looks at you with caring eyes, tilting your chin up so you would look at him. You definitely like Ren, but weren't about to become another one of his docile doormat girls. Impulsively, you place your hand on his shoulders for support and reach up on your tip toes. You plant a kiss on his cheek. His face fills with shock once again, but that was okay.

“You continue to surprise me,” he says one eyebrow arched, but smiling nonetheless.

“Get used to it. I have many more,” you state with a sly grin.
I hope you like it!
